When Real Estate Becomes a Family Business

March 10, 2026

The Livingston Team | Mother-Daughter Branding Session at West Haus Studio in Downtown Kitchener

Sometimes the best business partnerships don’t start in a boardroom.

They start around kitchen tables.
On long drives.
In years of conversations between a mom and daughter who already know each other’s strengths before the rest of the world does.

That’s exactly the story behind The Livingston Team, a new mother-daughter real estate partnership launching with Century 21 this May.

When they reached out about creating branding photos for their new real estate team, I knew right away this session was going to be special.

Because this wasn’t just about headshots.

This was about capturing the beginning of something meaningful.

A Dream That Turned Into a Career

For Isabel, real estate has always been the goal.

Like many people entering the industry, the journey takes patience, consistency, and a lot of hard work.

Real estate has always been a dream of mine. It’s not an easy profession to get started in. It has taken a lot of consistency and hard work, but I have loved every minute. Helping a client achieve success in the market is the most rewarding part. Real estate quickly became more than just a job — I am so grateful for the opportunity to help guide people, and now to do it alongside my mom.”

Over time, real estate became more than a career.

It became something she truly loved.

And eventually, something she could share with family.

When Life Opens the Door to Something New

Isabel’s mom spent 26 years working as a massage therapist. After decades in a physically demanding profession, it was time for a change.

Watching Isabel build her career sparked an interest in real estate.

My mom was a massage therapist for 26 years, and her body needed a change. She grew an interest in real estate, watching me build my career. Outside of real estate, the two of us have been really close. When mom decided she needed a change, it was an obvious choice for us to build a team together.

And just like that, The Livingston Team was born.

A real estate partnership built on family connection, collaboration, and two generations of experience.

Branding Photos at West Haus Studio in Downtown Kitchener

We photographed their branding session at West Haus Studio in downtown Kitchener, one of my favourite locations for branding photography in Waterloo Region.

The studio has beautiful natural light, textured brick walls, and several thoughtfully designed sets that work perfectly for business branding sessions.

One of my favourite features of the studio is the gorgeous office setup, which creates a clean, modern workspace environment. It’s perfect for professionals like realtors who want their photos to feel polished, professional, and approachable.

For The Livingston Team, this set worked beautifully to capture images that reflect both their professionalism and their natural connection as a team.

During the session, we created a variety of images they can use throughout their marketing, including:

  • Team portraits
  • Individual branding images
  • Lifestyle office moments
  • Personality shots that show their fun side

Strong branding sessions give business owners a full visual library of content they can use across their business.

The Photos That Felt Most Like Them

When I asked Isabel if there was a moment during the shoot that felt especially “them,” the answer was easy.

Our Team photos/ photos together really made us feel like ‘us’ – a few in particular where we showcase our vibe together gave great pictures that we love.”

Those are always my favourite moments as a photographer.

The ones where people relax, laugh, and simply enjoy being themselves.

Because those are the images that feel the most real.

What It Was Like Working With Portraits by Kendra

One of the things I love most about sending out post-session questionnaires is hearing how the experience felt from the client’s perspective.

This response truly made my day.

Amazing!! Kendra made us feel confident and provided lots of direction in posing. She was very prepared, providing a mood board of photo ideas. She was very upbeat and lots of fun. Turnaround was quick, and we loved the results.”

Creating beautiful images is always the goal.

But creating an experience where people feel comfortable, confident, and supported in front of the camera matters just as much.

What Helped Them Feel Comfortable in Front of the Camera

Feeling relaxed in front of the camera doesn’t happen by accident.

For Isabel and her mom, a few things made all the difference.

The direction, the music, the sense that Kendra actually cared about getting good photos and us looking and feeling our best.”

And honestly, that’s exactly how I want every client to feel.

Guided.
Supported.
And confident.

How The Livingston Team Will Use Their Branding Photos

Their new branding images will support a full marketing launch for their real estate team, including:

  • Their new website
  • Social media
  • Listing presentations
  • Postcards and flyers
  • Business cards
  • Signage

…and likely a few places they haven’t even thought of yet.

That’s the beauty of a well-planned branding session.

You walk away with months (sometimes years) of marketing content.

Advice for Business Owners Thinking About Booking a Branding Session

If you’re a business owner wondering whether branding photos are worth it, Isabel has some great advice.

Just do it. You will not be disappointed. Let go and enjoy the shoot.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself.

A New Chapter for The Livingston Team

The Livingston Team officially launches this May, and I have a feeling this mother-daughter duo is going to do incredible things.

Because when you combine passion, experience, and a strong family connection, something special happens.

And I’m so honoured I got to help capture the beginning of their story.
