Let’s be real—your brand is so much more than a logo or a colour palette. It’s how you show up, connect, and make people feel. And your branding photos? They should reflect exactly that.

Whether you’re doing a full brand refresh or just need a few updated photos, I offer sessions for every stage of your business. From quick one-hour shoots to full-day storytelling sessions, there’s an option that fits where you’re at—and where you’re headed.

If you’re a creative entrepreneur, coach, consultant, or small biz owner wearing all the hats, chances are you have questions before stepping in front of the camera. I’ve rounded up the most common ones I hear to help you feel fully prepared and excited to bring your brand story to life.

As a Kitchener-Waterloo personal branding photographer, I’ve worked with so many amazing folks across Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, and beyond—and trust me, you are not alone in wondering what to wear or how many outfits to bring. Let’s dive in.

1. What is a personal branding session, exactly?

A personal branding session is more than a headshot—it’s a custom experience designed to visually tell your story. We capture images that show who you are, what you do, and how you do it. Think: candid behind-the-scenes shots, lifestyle images, workspace vibes, product photos, and of course, some killer portraits too.

2. Who are branding sessions for?

If you run a business, work for yourself, or are the face of your brand—this is for you. I’ve worked with everyone from life coaches and realtors to artists, therapists, and product-based businesses. If you need photos for your website, social media, newsletters, or launches… yep, this is your sign.

3. What should I wear for a branding session?

Wear outfits that feel like you—confident, comfortable, and aligned with your brand vibe. For a full branding experience, I usually recommend 3–5 looks, mixing casual, polished, and something fun. Avoid tiny prints or loud logos. We’ll chat more about your brand style in our pre-session strategy session so you feel totally ready.

4. Can I include props or tools of my trade?

Yes, please! Props help tell your story and give your photos context. Whether it’s a laptop, camera, books, coffee mug, paintbrush, or a notebook full of plans—bring along the things you use daily (or that represent your brand vibe). They help bring the images to life and make them feel uniquely yours.

5. Where do branding sessions take place?

Anywhere that fits your story. Your home office or studio, a rented creative space, a cute café, a trail or downtown corner with the right aesthetic—we’ll choose locations that reflect your brand. I’ll help you decide during our planning process and can suggest lots of great spots in KW and surrounding areas.

6. Do you help with posing? I’m awkward.

Friend, that’s my job. You don’t need to know how to pose—I’ll guide you every step of the way. I’ll give you prompts that keep things natural and relaxed (and maybe even make you laugh a little). My goal is for your photos to feel real, not forced.

7. Can I use these photos for more than just my website?

Absolutely. Most clients use their branding photos across their social media, newsletters, online courses, speaking bios, press kits, business cards—you name it. We’ll shoot with versatility in mind so you’ve got a full library of images to pull from.

8. How long is the session and how many photos do I get?

It depends on which session you book! Here’s a quick peek at the options:

  • Signature Branding Session – A 3-hour session with multiple outfits and locations, plus a full pre-session strategy session to make sure everything aligns with your brand. Includes 50 final edited images.
  • Mini Brand Session – A one-hour shoot, perfect for seasonal updates or if you just need a few fresh images. Includes 10 final edited photos.
  • VIP Branding Session – A full half-day experience (about 5 hours) for business owners who want all the content. We’ll plan everything together—multiple looks, multiple locations, a lunch break, and b-roll video clips for your social content. Includes 125 final images.

Whichever session you choose, you’ll get a beautifully edited gallery of high-resolution images—and yes, you can always add on more if you fall in love with too many (it happens!).

9. Do you offer strategy support or help planning the shoot?

Yep! Every full branding session includes a pre-shoot questionnaire and strategy session where we map out your vision, outfits, props, and locations. I’ll also share a guide full of tips so you know exactly what to expect. Need help refining your visual brand vibe? I’m here for that too.

10. I’m not sure where to start—how do I know what I need?

No problem! If you’re feeling overwhelmed, let’s chat. I’ll walk you through the options and help you figure out what kind of session makes sense for where you’re at in your business. Whether you’re just starting out or doing a full refresh, I’ve got you.

Still wondering if a branding session is right for you?

Let’s talk it through. Whether you need content for a new launch, want to show up more consistently online, or just know your selfie game isn’t cutting it anymore—I’d be so excited to help.
